Look, I know this is a blog about the warranty business that usually focuses on everything warranty. This morning though, please excuse me while I share a bit of my appreciation for the efforts made by the people who passionately and legally conveyed that gay folks should have the same rights as hetero folks when it comes to marriage. That word marriage means so much, but in short, it demonstrates two person’s commitment to each other and to the world.
How Prop 8 actually became part of a ballot in
I hope Judge Walker’s findings of facts help the ninth circuit and the Supreme Court turn away the appeals because he documented the realities as eloquently as those that brought evidence before him. I hope the stay of marriage is removed ASAP so those in commitments can marry and receive all that means in law and life. I hope the citizens of this state and country stand back and say, how did that Proposition pass, a proposition that declared our fellow gay citizens less than us because they are gay, and how can we keep this from happening again. Finally, I hope the congress adds language to the 14th Amendment that covers sexual orientation.
I am happy for my son and all my gay friends. Diane and I have been married 32 years. We have gay friends that are married. We have others that could not get married. They do not have the same rights. I want to wish everyone the best that worked on this and thank them especially for allowing our gay fellow citizens see their future with a little more equality and love. That makes us all better people.
