30 Years Ago---Lennon---Can you “Imagine”

When you call my wife’s phone John Lennon’s song, “Imagine” is what you hear.  It is hard to imagine that it was 30 years ago today that he was killed.  He wrote so many great songs, but this one instantly puts me in a mood to listen, think, reflect, be humble and reach out.  Be Here Now.  Fitting this time of year as the time between Thanksgiving and New Year takes us through family get-togethers, business and religious celebrations to a world wide celebration of the new possibilities ahead while reflecting on the happenings in the year past.  I am sure there are equally good times of year for others, but this is it for me.

Music to My Ears

I have ADD.  Have since I was a little guy. They use to refer to me as hyper.  Yep.  Phenobarbital was the only way to get me to sleep.  I’m lucky now.  I like to think of myself as the “gas pedal goes down as soon as I wake up kind of guy”.

 

I always hear music. My childhood friend once introduced my at a cocktail party with a bunch of professors and associates by saying, “This is my friend Frank, don’t be surprised when he breaks into song”.  I also had my corporate counsel Mark at a dinner one night ask me if I was ADD?  I grinned and said yes and had to ask why he asked me that.  He said because his wife always is humming or singing and she is ADD and he wondered if it is a common trait.  Yes I am.  Music is always there.

It’s the last day of April. It’s been raining.  All kinds of songs come to mind.  “It never Rains in California”, “Rainy days and Sundays”, “I can’t stand the rain”, Reign O’er Me”. “Green Tambourine”.  I could go on.  I think I will now focus the next month of my blog on lines from songs that we can use to motivate and associate to business success.

 

Rain Brings Flowers.  Positive musical messaging brings success.  This should be fun.
